Volunteering

Voluntary Services in the Holy Land

Many people would like to spend some time abroad to work as volunteers. The Holy Land has always attracted people of all ages to come and stay for a while working in charitable projects. Volunteers experience the daily life in the Holy Land much more intensive than pilgrims who only come to the country for a week or two. They get in touch with the people and their life. The volunteers are a substantial part of most charitable institutions without which the latter could hardly exist.

The German Association of the Holy Land sends volunteers to several own houses or partner institutions in the Holy Land and supports them during their stay. These institutions include:

  • Paulushaus Guesthouse (Jerusalem)
  • Dormition Abbey (Jerusalem)
  • Pilgerhaus Guesthouse (Tabgha)
  • Meeting Place (Tabgha)
  • Nursing Home Beit Emmaus (Qubeibe)
  • St. Louis French Hospital (Jerusalem)
  • St. Charles Hospice (Jerusalem)
  • St. Vincent Home for Disabled Children (Ein Karem)
  • Kfar Tikva Village for Disabled People (Kiryat Tiv’on)
  • Dahers Vineyard (Beit Jala)

For several (mainly logistic) reasons, the German Association of the Holy Land mainly concentrates on sending volunteers from (or residing in) Germany. If you are interested in doing a voluntary service in one of the institutions mentioned above, you are more than welcome to contact us to find out how we can support your plans (e.g. providing you with further information on the various projects or establishing contacts with the institutions).
